‘Wij mensen traumatiseren de dolfijn’

Wij mensen mogen het dan enig vinden: zwemmen met dolfijnen, maar dat geldt niet voor de dieren zelf. De interactie tussen mens en dier is pure intimidatie waardoor de dolfijn niet meer toekomt aan rust, voedsel of zorg voor de kinderen. Dat concluderen wetenschappers.

“Ons onderzoek laat zien dat de dolfijnen wanneer een boot met toeristen dichterbij kwam, onrustiger werden en minder tijd aan voeding, socialisatie en rust besteedden,” vertelt onderzoeker Per Berggren. “Dat heeft een negatieve impact, niet alleen op het individuele dier, maar op de populatie als geheel en kan op lange termijn een verwoestende werking hebben.”

De onderzoekers hielden de dolfijnen veertig dagen lang in de gaten en ontdekten dat de boten met toeristen ervoor zorgden dat de dieren 28 procent minder tijd namen om te rusten. Ook de zoektocht naar voedsel en de tijd die de dolfijnen namen om met elkaar bezig te zijn nam respectievelijk met negen en zes procent af. Terwijl de dieren minder eten en minder rusten, zijn ze in de nabijheid van mensen bovendien veel beweeglijker. Het aantal bewegingen verdubbelde ruim van 33 naar 77 procent.

In beginsel leek het kijken naar en zwemmen met dolfijnen nog een goede zet te zijn: eerder werd er op de dieren gejaagd, maar de hordes toeristen zorgden ervoor dat dat vanuit financieel oogpunt niet mee nodig was. De dolfijn leek gered. Maar nu brengt de redding weer nieuwe complicaties met zich mee. Onderzoekers pleiten er dan ook voor dat de interactie tussen mens en dolfijn gereguleerd wordt.

    This happens every year in the ‘Feroe Island in Denmark’. In this drama-slaughter are the main participants ‘Young People’ . . . AND WHY? . . . A celebration, to prove that they are ‘adults’ now!

    In this great feast, there is nothing wrong for the FUN. Everyone participates with them in one way or another: Killing or looking at the cruelty and as a spectator to cheer.

    Is it necessary to mention that the dolphin Calderon, like all other species of dolphins, almost near extinction condition. They approach people to play with them and engaging. A manifestation of pure friendship.

    They do not die immediately, first they are horribly cut 1, 2 or 3 times with big hooks. At that time the dolphins produce a stark cry, like that of a newborn child.

    But the dolphin dies and there is no compassion at all while this beautiful creature slowly is dying in his own blood.

    Send this e-mail until this e-mail reaches any association for the defense of animals. Do not only ‘read’ this E-mail, because then we would be ourselves accomplices, namely spectators. Send him!
